Watching while others light the flame of innovation? Your not going to be the one that gets burned.
Dismissing an idea because it’s never been done? Child’s play.
Challenging the assumptions underlying a new venture or playing rope-a-dope when someone needs your help? Piece of cake.
There’s nothing wrong with playing devil’s advocate or being mindful of a new idea’s inherent risks. But if someone offers up a potential solution to a known, important issue and all you can do is pull on your black robe and judge, I cry “foul.”
